About Sashiko
Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese Embroidery. It uses only one type of stitch - the simplest running stitch - to create striking patterns on indigo fabrics.
It is very easy to learn - even beginners can achieve stunning results in no time.
For a good experience and results, it is important for beginners to start with special sashiko fabric, needle and thread. These are specially made for sashiko and different from the standard needles and threads for hand sewing and embroidery.
As it can be difficult and sometimes pricy to source these items separately, we have created a few Sashiko starter kits for you to try.
What’s in the Kit?
The kit includes everything you will need to complete this project:
Sashiko fabric (main) and vintage loom-woven fabric (lining)
Sashiko needle and thread
Heat erasable pen (always keep the lid on when not in use)
Sewing thread
Wooden beads
Hollow fibre filling/stuffing
